A breast-feeding gown, as the name is self-explanatory, is a hospital garment designed specifically for women with newborn babies. For decades women had to wear gowns when they were in labor or while breastfeeding; however, not every gown was suitable for breastfeeding. Regular gowns are very restrictive when it comes to skin to skin contact with the newborn. As a result, many women had to take off their gowns when trying to initiate breastfeeding. 

Types of Breastfeeding Gowns

In general, there are two types of breastfeeding gowns, disposable gowns and reusable gowns. Reusable gowns’ fabric are usually made of cotton, polyester, viscose or a mixture of them. Reusable gowns, however, are usually made of SMS material, which are designed for better hygiene and air circulation.
