What is a Patient Gown

Patient gown is a type of hospital garment that is used by patients in all hospital departments such as,  CCU, ICU, operating room, and radiology. When a patient attends hospital they may be asked to wear a Gown for different procedures like colonoscopy. These garments, which are also referred to as johnny gowns, are perceived as a way of equalizing the patients as it puts all of them in the same equal state.

Patient gowns usually come in blue, pink, or green as these three colors better enhance the surgeon’s vision while operating on the patient. Basically, There are two types of patient gowns: disposable and reusable. While Reusable gowns are usually made of cotton, polyester, viscose blend, disposable gowns are made of SMS fabric.

Features of Patient Gown

The cotton used in these types of fabric allows for good air circulation, preventing the patient from sweating and promoting their comfort and ease. As the fabric is made from natural cellulose materials, it absorbs more secretions (such as blood and bodily fluids) from the patient’s body, helping to prevent odor and discomfort for both the patient and those around them.

We offer your patients with utmost comfort during their hospital stays with our gowns, as they are made up of non woven SMS material. In addition, GT Medical is able to provide gowns made up of higher or lower gsm fabric, starting from17 up to 90 gsm.
